The best about you content is not really about you. Sure, people love to be reminded that you’re a fellow human being and that they can relate to you, but there is only so much that can be said in the few sentences you have. Is it even possible to tell your story in that short of a time? Nope. But that’s okay, because your “about me” is really about your potential customers and clients.
As stated, people love to be reminded that you’re relatable. That’s what attracts them to you and will keep them coming back. Only having a few sentences about where you are, what you do makes for a very one sided introduction.
In your “About Me” you should be using facts and looking to inspire trust. Tell people what they want to hear about what you can do for them, don’t just make claims about what you’ve done in the past and what awards you may have. Be specific, and create a connection between you and your readers. Visualize your audience and write what they would want to see, each demographic requires a different approach. You need to speak their language if you want to gain their trust and show that you can meet their needs.
Don’t forget to get personal and introduce employees and their passions. Be sure not to use corporate-talk in this area, keeping it conversational and showing personality will let your readers know that there are people behind your business.
Overall, your “About You” can be about many different things. You just have to remember that people from all different backgrounds and personalities will be reading. Use a friendly universal language that still shows you are fully capable of meeting your clients needs.
